Hi. I cleaned my car and the short drive after to dry the brakes didnt work. I now have a dark pad mark on the rotor... have driven nearly 100 miles and have braked up hard a few times but the mark aint going away. Any tips please on what i can apply to remove or will it go in time? Thanks.

Do you mean the brakes didn't work?

What did you do to the wheels/brakes while you were cleaning the car?

Thoroughly cold, wet brakes, as they may be after a washing the car, may not be as effective as when dry and warm. You drove 100 miles after this event, did the brakes work OK then?
As for the mark, if the brakes work, why worry? It will soon wear away.

Yes.

It's quite common for brake discs to discolour under the pads, especially if the brakes are held on while stationary and hot, or if left in the same position for a long time in damp conditions. The marks will gradually disappear in normal use.

Wash? What is this of which you speak?
Do you mean - washing, with water and detergent? That removes any anticorrosion grease and promotes rust?
Never do it myself.

If you remove the pads permanently, it wont happen again.

I'm glad there's nothing this serious wrong with my own car.
