Has anybody taken one out on a used car. The cost seems pretty reasonable especially if you select named component cover. I just got a quote of £240 for 1yr or just over £23 a month.

Yes - I took out the warranty when my VW reached 3 years. A few weeks later water pump went and so had that and the cambelt changed for the excess as dealer did both at same time. (charged me for parts for the cambelt but labour was covered).

Also bonnet catch broke.

So i reckon I'm quids in on mine.

Thanks for the replies interesting though as I was told it only covers faults which are caused by manufacturing defects.

It covers anything (within the scope of the cover) that fails suddenly.

What it doesn't cover is failure due to wear and tear. WarrantyDirect, that I used to have on Merc, does cover this. When the Merc was 10 years old they paid for new suspension components when bushes and ball joints had worn without any quibble.
