£2000 - £3000 - RWD - Sport

Looking for advice on what kind of sporty RWD motor I can get my hands on for around £2000, 3000 pounds. Obviously interested in MX5's but do they have enough power to go with that well known driving fun. Other option I guess would be a Z4 3.0, what do you guys think?

My mk3 MR2 was meant to be a cheap stop gap to pass a year.
2.5 years on and I still love it.
Its cheap to run and handles incredibly.
Unlike an MX5 it doesn't rust (except on sub frame)
