As per the title really, does anyone ride with a balaclava under their helmet?

After a year of use, the inside of my lid isn’t quite as fresh as I’d like, some of the lining is removable and washable but some isn’t. I was considering getting a balaclava to keep the helmet a bit fresher for longer. I can therefore just wash the balaclava regularly. Might also give a bit of warmth as it drops cooler allowing me to keep the vents open for circulation.

Any recommendations?

I have an older version of this: Knox cold killers. Thin enough not to notice, makes the helmet easier to don and remove and, as you said, allows easy washing. Also prevents cold air and rain down your neck if you are still riding at this time of year.

all the time, Dainese Total WS Balaclava and a summer one, held coolmax and a knox one

i don't find a buff pulled over the back of the head does it and i cannot work out how to make it into a balaclava

easier to wash a balaclava several times a week than strip the inside of the helmet out, wait for it to dry then re assemble

Yes, when it’s really cold. Have a very thin Oxford one and it makes a big difference in terms of keeping your head warm.

Exactly this ^

Always wear a balaclava all year round and I've got a summer and winter balaclava. Easier to wash the balaclava and it also helps prevents the ear plugs from moving around.

Not a balaclava but I find a thin skull cap works OK

I use a Buff neck tube, polar in the winter months, tuck it in my jacket then pull it up over my head like a balaclava. Keeps me warm and my lid clean

I always wear a balaclava now - the ones I use are American but you can buy them on their site and import into the UK. I think I bought 8 for like $20 on offer. It's SA Apparel (website is safishing.com)

They are really good and actually have pollen filters, uv filters, thermal etc. etc. I've used a few but these are the best that I've found. Also have lots of designs. I got a bright orange one to go with my Duke 390 (call me sad but it's a bit of fun).

It's worth waiting until they have a sale on though if you do decide to go with them

Yep, the Knox one I linked above...

EDIT - actually the one linked doesn't seem to be windproof on top - but my older version is. Strange.
