hi all, i need some info/help

where to start... iv managed to save up some money on the side, without using the savings to convert my mk2 caddy to a 20v... i should have enough money to start and finish it by myself

iv brought afew bits and bobs so far

iv been offerd a AGU engine conversion from a mk4 golf for £700 basically the whole front end from a mk4 golf is that about right on price? and is it the right engine to fit? or should i be looking at another 20v engine code to be fitted

also is it worth buying that AGU/mk4 golf front end will i need all the parts it comes with like driveshafts hub's etc etc or should i buy just the engine and loom keys and ecu and go from there

i have someone lined up to do the wiring loom

apparently I need the mk2 caddy TDI gearbox mounts for the agu gearbox to fit in my caddy

iv also been told the bam engine or anything 6 speed is alot harder to fit as you need custom made gearbox mounts as where the agu engine/gearbox is all of the shelf or other vehicles

cant seem to find a spec/ parts list anywhere, iv been looking but everyone does it all different, so now im getting abit lost... so you guys are my last hope.! I really wanna do this now iv finally got the time to start

what else will i need for the conversion?

The easiest thing to use as a donor would be a mk3 Ibiza Cupra as it is essentially exactly the same as the caddy under the skin.

If your using the Mk4 Golf you will need to convert the loom to run with your original fuse box and delete the immobiliser or go standalone

You will need and this is not a complete list

Ibiza/Caddy/Polo TDi Shifter Tower and cables, Front, Rear and gearbox mount brackets, Drive Shafts.

With regards to the driveshafts you may need the inner flanges from the gearbox also

Suitable clocks, Mk3 Golf or Ibiza GTI

Down pipe and inter cooler pipe work

It’s actually an easy swap physically getting the engine in, it’s trying to source the correct items to make it fit right, there’s plenty guides on Golf GTI forum, Club GTI etc

Afraid not, the Leon is essentially a mk4 Golf

The gearbox in the Leon will be 6 speed too

Agu is the older 1.8t has a ko3 but stronger internals but a aum engine code has a ko3s so a basic remap will bring you to around 210 where a ko3 your be lucky to see 180
