Hi some advice if possible. I have had 19” wheels on a w reg boxster 3.2s that I was thinking of changing. I picked up a set of 16” boxster wheels to give it the original look. Put the rear set on and fine. Went to put the front ones on and they would not go on as touch the brake caliper. Looks like they need a spacer which is a pain. After looking at front and back . The back wheels seem to have a deeper fitting so are further away from the rear brake caliper. The front wheels aren’t as deep in side where they bolt on. The callipers are a bit bigger on the front but it looks like the rear wheels would fit and not touch the caliper on the front. ( not tried) but the tyre sizes on the back are 225 50 16 and on the front 205 55 16 so defo got the wheels the right round but just don’t get it as don’t want the hassle of a spacer etc if I can help it.

986S came with 17s as standard with optional 18s. 16s, standard wheels at least don't clear the calipers as you are finding out.

As above. Your 16" wheels will go straight on a 2.5 or 2.7 but won't fit over the larger brakes of a 3.2 `S` without spacers.
