Hi all,

I am currently looking at a 3 series 320d used car. I have seen that this car has not yet sold. The car is due to reach 4 years since it's production date in November, my question is the car likely to fall further in price once it reaches that day and by approx how much?

Sorry if this is glaringly obvious but I am completely new to this, many thanks!

I don’t think it will change at a specific ‘birthday’, its value will fall according to age, mileage, desirability, condition.
The fact that it has not sold, is more due to the 320d being quite common-place, so there are plenty to choose from.

Its 4th birthday won't specifically be a factor in a reduction in price (in that the garage won't have list of cars to write down when they get to 4 years old) What it will do is continue to depreciate based upon it's general age/mileage/condition and the demand for the car in the market until it ends up at a scrap yard.

If you have a price in mind that you're willing to pay for the car bid the dealer that price and see what happens, they might want to get it off the books they might have a 90day stock finance agreement and need to sell it etc conversely they might not and don't mind hanging on to it for the right customer or it might be priced bang on the money....many variables.

It will continue to drop in value, but at 4 years from registration the worst depreciation has already happened!

If you get it for a price you are happy with and can accept that it will drop a bit then why not?
