Saw 2 plod on foot stood monitoring a bus lane earlier, to catch any drivers illegally using it at rush hour.

No camera, as far as I could see. Good old fashioned pen and paper.

I was impressed, has anyone else seen that sort of thing recently? Or is it just Nottinghamshire Police?

Yes just what we need while all the stabbers are actually travelling on the bus.

I heard "bussing it" as part of the lyrics to a grime track on the radio today, so you may be on to something hehe

Must have been a slow day for them to have the plod standing by a buslane. I've head the more important things to do shot down elsewhere, but in this instance, really?

So the Police should be travelling around on buses all day on the off chance that a knife wielding attacker might get on one? confused

I'm not sure that would really be a better use their time!

Controlling a bus lane is not really a safety issue, they would be better spent catching people on moblie phones, probably more money in it also.

I've seen it once in Edinburgh a few years ago on a road out of the city to the East. It was around 5 in the evening, and there were at least 6 officers out. It was like shooting fish in a barrel. In the few minutes I was sat in the queue heading into the city they pulled over two cars with a third already stopped.
I believe that stretch is now covered by a camera.

They are usually council enforced via person, camera car or fixed cameras and this will result in a PCN although non-endorsable.

I believe the Police can also enforce just like they can with failure to comply to any other road sign. This will likely result in FPN and may well attract points.

Southampton City Council have multiple sites with cameras. It's a nice little earner for them, apparently they have a high number of repeat offenders too. There's nowt so dumb as folk.

A demonstration that cuts to police funding have not gone far enough.
