BMW Battery Charge Calendar??

In my search to find the torque spec on the M6 nuts for the battery terminal... I came across a battery charge calendar. I am confused as a baby in a topless bar.
Is this used to maintain cars on the lot? They probably sell within months.
Is it used for owned cars even if they are driven regularly?
Looks interesting though. For example, the 2018 calendar suggests that the battery be charged every 6 weeks and the schedule changes as the months go on.
