20 mile each way commuter for better half.

Any advice appreciated.

Need to buy a reliable car for my other half, who is starting a 12 month fixed contract, commuting 20 miles each way, half 60 a road, half stop start city.

The only real factors are economy and reliability. It can be literally anything. Not my speciality tbh.

Would you lease? Buy a banger and scrap at the end? Buy something nice, and resell? Is £2k a good sweet spot?
