The engine management light keeps coming on. It has been checked by one main dealer and a specialist who both connected their clever machines to it, they both narrowed it down to a misfire. It's fine for about 200 miles and then it comes on again. There is no sign of trouble, the car still runs fine(best car I've ever had).

Has anyone else had this type of problem?

Hi, this only happened to me once but it was damp getting into the engine compartment. The guys at my Lotus garage picked this up sraight away and said is it left outside in the rain? (which it was). Maybe this, but with the dry weather of late perhaps not. not sure but just a thought, good luck in sorting her out.

Is the engine management light steady or flashing?

If steady on the S2 then the ECU has picked up what it thinks is emission problem across the lamda sensors, but usually down to no cat in place therefore no differencial between the sensors.

I have mine reset every 2-3 months-ish. I don't like to leave it on too long as i don't know if this could 'masking' a misfire alarm.

hope this helps

Thanks Geoff, the light does stay on and I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Many thanks

I think you can get a little electronic gadget that switches off the engine management light if you've got a CRP fitted. (elise parts do them)

Thanks Cuzza, would a Lotus dealer supply and fit or is it best that I buy and get a specialist to fit it.

Get it from Eliseparts! I doubt Lotus will sell you one anyway.

It probably comes with instructions and you can DIY or just get an auto electrician to put it in.
