What petrol, estate for £10k or less?

My brother is looking for a replacement to his aging derv A3. He lives in London and has 2 young kids.

He’s after an estate car of A4 or 3 series size. Petrol and less than £10k.

What are your suggestions? He’s currently thinking 3 series or A4. I suggested a civic tourer and get shot down. Lol.

It depends on if he's a badge snob as there are some cracking cars out there that budget but if he only wants German then there's no point.
