A few colleagues at work, ex-military who struggled to manage their dietary/exercise requirements after leaving the forces, have Thai brides. One has a similar age lady who looks like she is his wife as she’s similarly rough around the edges (they met via a Western-Thai dating forum), the others have wives young enough to be their daughters that they sort of purchased and it’s quite horrible! The couple who met via the dating site seem happy enough and have kids, the others have odd relationships where the wives go back home for extended periods (probably to their Thai husband and kids)
Similarly, the horrid HR manager at a big brewery I worked for bagged herself a Moroccan husband who is a third of her age. Felt sorry for the guy as he was basically used as a human sized dildo.

I've not seen the programme mentioned, but I've often wondered jsut how well a lot of these relationships work in real life and long term....
When I was 16, a chap I worked with (he was divorced and mid to late 40s) met a "beauty therapist"*in Pattaya. He married her and brought her back to the UK. The fact she couldn't understand a f
king word of English, nor him Thai, I wonder HOW he managed that. That was 30+ years ago, Wouldn't surprise me if she fleeced the silly bugger and fked off back to Thailand.

Worked with someone who's 60 year old brother "met" a 20-something girl from Kazakhstan online. She came over to visit a few times, and before long they were shacked up together in the UK. Roll forward about a year and all of a sudden he'd sold his 5 bed home in Surrey and they'd bought themselves a nice mansion in Kazakhstan and were moving out there. Only problem was there was an issue with his Visa, so he had to return to the UK for a bit while it got sorted... funnily enough that's when she started having "phone issues" and he could never get in contact.
From what I understand a year or so down the line and no progress and very little (if any) contact. Sounds like she's pretty much hit the jackpot...

Sadly, that isn't limited to the 60 year old men falling for younger wives type thing, it happens to others as well. A guy I was at school with, I'm not really friends with him but we have mutual friends so I see him every so often, got fleeced in a similar way, costing him all the money he had saved up to put a deposit on his first house because he didn't do "due dilligence" with a girl from abroad he met on holiday etc, but she was a local and of course as an outsider hearing the story, all the alarm bells were ringing, but what can you do?From what I understand a year or so down the line and no progress and very little (if any) contact. A good friend of my sister, who I've met and chatted about it to her; her mum died, dad ended up becoming involved with a much younger Thai fitty, they married, he died of a heart attack a year later, she basically sold up everything as it was all in joint names and fked off back to Thailand circa £1M better off.
