Is It Christmas Already?
Discussion
I know so many shops actually had the Christmas areas set up at the end of September around here selling trees and lights etc. Even a garden centre i went to first week in October had its whole Christmas display set up playing Christmas songs throughout the store
far too early it kind of ruins it because you end up sick of the site of it all by the time December comes around.

Noticed they’d put the display up this week at some point.
It’s not even November yet!
Worse than the UK. Which means the awful Christmas tunes will be starting soon in various shops...will need to leave my headphones in when shopping.

You know it's running up to Christmas when the threads complaining about Christmas decorations/trees etc start.
Seriously - some businesses start their Christmas campaign around August bank holiday, so it should come as no shock to see decorations up in late October, 8 weeks before Christmas.
It's been like this for as long as I can remember.

Just been in Singapore and there were tons of Christmas decorations up there already, in or outside shopping malls and hotels. Looked like the big switch-on of the illuminated stuff would be once Halloween is out of the way but they were certainly well on the way to being ready.
Was also surprised on landing back at Heathrow to see all the decorations there, and already switched on, not just being prepped. Madness.

No,
There's a system of sorts of course.
I can accept pubs who are advertising for Office Parties etc kicking off in Sept, I don't like it, but I can accept it as that shrill women in every office who just loves 'Crimbo' will want you decide what you fancy eating in 3/4 months as soon as the kids are back in school after the summer hols.
Equally I know the supermarkets have seasonal aisles to fill, so it's gardening stuff till August, then 'back to school' till Sept and then they're a bit stuck till the 2 week Halloween assault so it's a bit of a mini-xmas thing telling their customers to 'stock up' on over-priced, over-packaged Chocolates and crap that Mum will eat and restock up between now and Xmas 4 times. They'll put it all away for 2 weeks whilst consumers go madder and madder every year for Halloween (seriously, since when did people decorate their entire house for Halloween?!?!? I've witnesses at least a dozen houses done up bottom to top for weeks already).
The real retail onslaught will kick off on Thursday, it'll be wall to wall Tinsel and Slade until 2019 now.
But no, a Xmas tree, just for the sake of having a xmas tree in the middle of an Airport, - wtf?
I know people like me moan about it every year, but even at 40, I just can't square how or why we go through this whole song and dance every year, it's madness really. Xmas is a day, and I know it's not something you have to do every waking moment, of every day, but still, it's a quarter of the year now. A quarter of our lives balls deep in baubles,

I love having the house decorated, playing Christmas music etc. We save quite a few days of our annual holidays specifically so we can have a good run off work over Christmas and new year (usually at least 2 weeks).
