Sorry if I’m in the wrong forum, but a very quick question on above.

Won an auction for a grand 99plaugh. As soon as it finished I paid, then within ten minutes I received a message from seller saying Daughter cocked up with the sale and there was no way I’m getting it for 99p (was up for £20 buy it now). Fair enough his porogative, so I then received an E-mail saying cancelled auction, obviously nothing to do with me, but I imagine it could be construed either way by E bay i.e seller or buyer not happy. So, my question is could this have any effect on my E bay history? Haven’t left feedback and don’t intend to be a cock about it, just had me thinking if there were any comebacks.

Won't impact you.

They're knobs though. If you don't want it to sell for 99p, don't list it for 99p without a reserve.

Personally I’d leave negative feedback, why start an unreserved auction at 99p if you aren’t willing to sell it at that price?

Exactly, most auctions run for a week, so plenty of time to end the auction or raise the start bid. More likely they thought a low start bid would draw a frenzy of enthusiastic bidders.

Seller is being a tit.

Negative his ass. Dominate the negativity on the stairs, etc.

If he's cancelled it, I'm not sure you can?

He will have to re list it as it expires the end of Dec. Not really that much of an issue for the sake of 99p, it was even free postagebiggrin

After my mother died a few years ago - we ebayed off a few bits of furniture - and a solid wood bureau went for 99p. Had previously had it on for more, and not had any interest. Bloke from a charity in Leicester came to collect it in a van and gave me £20 - I think he was embarrassed it had been won for 99p ... I gave the £20 back to his charity in the end ...

That’s a lovely thought. Uplifting. Well done.

Don't think you can cancel an auction after its ended.

You can do a "buyer and seller mutually agreed not to proceed", but that requires the buyer to agree.

As said above - seller is a tit. Don't list for 99p if you're not willing to take it, or just shill bid it up like everyone else does.

Had something similar with a vintage map I won for 99p. Seller told me they had mislaid the map and refunded my money. All similar maps were around £20. I guess the seller wasn’t happy that I was the only bidder.

Closed my eBay account this year for various reasons including getting messed about with non payers etc.

Reading this thread confirms my decision.

I tend to "sell" random crap on ebay that's too big/cumbersome to get rid of, just so someone will come and take it away (and often pay). Most recent was some wicker conservatory furniture that went for about £1.50, they asked if I had change for a fiver - I told them just to take it away laugh

Even If you leave bad feedback, the seller can get it removed easily. And ebay wont give a st about you and will remove it

Been a few years since I've really bought from eBay, but you used to be able to refuse cancellation and then file a 'non performing seller' report which basically gave the seller a defect.
I'd certainly leave negative feedback though. Echoing everyone else, start an auction on the lowest you're willing to accept or you just end up looking a tit.

I had the same thing with a car, auction didn't meet the reserve in his head, some bullst story about forgetting to put a reserve on (more like didn't want to pay to)

Just left bad feedback and forgot about it

How can the seller get negative feedback removed easily?
