On my second Targus CN600, mainly as that what my previous job dished out, they have served me well but I need a new one,

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Targus-CN600-Classic-Back...

Want a little more capacity and something indestructible as possible, the Targus ones have been ok but tend to unravel after a while.

I use it for everything, laptop, gym gear, lunch, cycling and for shorter trips away when a suitcase isnt needed.

I did buy a nice laptop bag a while back but having separate bags just didnt work.

What are you guys using ?

I too have used a long string of targus bags. Sadly the last one just has not lasted at all.

Several colleagues use these osprey ones and I think I’ll go for on next

I’m a serial Osprey buyer (5 at last count). Just pick the features you need and you’ll find several options.

They’re well designed and robust, and they seem to be designed by the kind of people who would actually use them. Things like a very lightweight helmet holder, pockets on the waist belt, or a rucksack harness that zips away for travelling.

Got an Eastpak Provider about four and a half years ago. It’s been to the office plenty and it’s been in 60mph enduro bike crashes. It’s light on features but it’s pleasingly utilitarian and I can’t see any part which is likely to break. I didn’t want to buy anything which looked like it’d been nicked from the I.T. dept and equally didn’t want something which looked too ‘sporty’ to take to work.

You inspired me to get cracking with finding a replacement OP.

The corporate system we use no longer has osprey so I’ve ended up with this Swiss one:-

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wenger-Backpack-Protect-c...

I’ll report back when it arrives

Currently have a Targus, its "ok".

Had a few of those Swiss Wegner ( ? ) ones and they fell apart, colleagues have the newer ones and definitely a step down in quality.

I also have an Osprey for travelling, it's brilliant, been all over the place (75+15 I think; the one where you can zip off a small day bag from the main backpack / case).

I've got a Wenger bag (no idea what model, might check later) that I got for a bargain in TK Maxx many years ago and it still looks practically new if I clean it.

Has a padded laptop pocket and neat little features and clips etc everywhere. I spend most of my life outdoors and it has carried and done everything with me. Can't really recommend it enough, possibly one of the best things I've ever bought.

Osprey again here.

I have an 11 and a 22 for various duties and they're perfect.

My old man has a Berghaus rucksack that is so old when he took it in for repair they offered him a brand new up to date model one free of charge as long as they could keep his for a museum collection.

I just switched to using a North Face Borealis. You can squeeze a lot into it.

I had a Tesco £7.99 one for about 12 years. It was great, but was beginning to look a bit tatty. My wife kept nagging me to ditch it and upgrade but I resisted. But i finally succumbed when I was out with the wife one day whilst using it, and she was nagging me about it, and I said "I think you might be right about this rucksack, I just heard the bloke who just passed us say to his wife "there goes that bloke again, and he's still got that horrible old bag with him."

Anyway, she bought me something a bit more expensive, can't recall the make, and it's utter crap. Zips stick, it's fraying, just awful. Must remember to go down to Tesco to get a decent one.

I recommend Ortovox. I have a Cross Rider 20 and it's been excellent on many trips as well as being used around town. A bit pricey, but very good. You could try the slightly bigger model.

As for Osprey, I find they have too many pockets that don't lead to a lot of support. The clasps also get brittle and break.

Not sure what your budget is but Maxpedition have just launched their "non tactical" Entity range in 4 sizes. I have a couple of their bags and they are pretty much indestructible.

Another vote for Osprey here.

Previously had a Swiss one which basically fell apart after 18 months.

I've had the Osprey (Momentum 30) for 2 years so far. Use it every day, and practically no sign of wear.
My next rucksack (when I need a different size) will be an Osprey.

I've got one of these. It's driving me nuts. If they could have been bothered to make it just a tiny bit more expandable outwards it would be vastly more usable. As it stands if you fill the, already too cramped, main compartment, and not to bursting by any means, the outer one becomes not too far off useless.

Every time I pack for some time away I empty it again, throw it in the corner and use something slightly larger as it lacks that final extra bit of space everywhere.

I'm getting rid.

How do you find it when you put it down though?

I have got a Wenger backpack that I like a lot, but all the plastic bits have broken over time: handle, strap buckles etc.
