Post lease bills

I handed my car back 3 weeks ago, knowing I’ve got an excess mileage charge to pay through VW.

How long do they typically take, and is this in post or email?

I’m reluctant to call them and remind them of my outstanding charges!

My Octavia VRS final bill (which was just confirmation I didn't owe anything) took about 6 weeks from collection.

Wife sent her Leon back to VWFS in August - it was 5k miles over (~£360 excess charge), and had a couple of minor wheel scuffs that I think were under the limits.

Still not heard anything about charges. Obviously September is a busy month, but I'd expected to have had a bill by now.

Had the bill now. Money was taken 3 days before we got the letter.

Letter was dated 3 weeks ago. Now, either the letter inadvertently sat on a desk at VWFS, got held up in the post for 3 weeks, or somebody is playing a bit fast and loose to get around the DD rules (think you have to notify a little while in advance of changing the payment). Thankfully not an issue.

That seems strange.

When I handed my A4 back in June the letter took a good 4 weeks (can't remember exactly how long). The charges were around £400 for excess mileage and I had to pay VWFS via bank transfer. At no point did they mention taking it via direct debit - I'd be surprised if that's even allowed?

I did expect to have to make a payment, but no, they've just taken it using the existing DD. Personally I think it's naughty, but "meh".

Mileage is right though, so seems legit.

Still nothing back from VWFS on my end. Waiting since mid Sept!
