Bose ICE not very impressive - upgrades?
Discussion
Just about the only bit that lets my Macan down is the Bose sound quality does not befit an £85k car! Its so loose, weak and wooly in the lower mids and only really starts sounding rounded and full when you drive it hard (the volume control that is)! Not a patch on the Harman Kardon in my 535d that the Macan replaced - but guess that had 2 10" subs under the front seats not a smallish woofer box in the spare wheel well.
Anyone else similarly picky and found an upgrade that tidies it all up a bit?
Cheers.

I find the Bose Surround in my '17 Panamera to be 'good' but it isn't exceptional. Last year i test drove a gen 1 Panamera with the Burmiester sound system and that literally blew my socks off, it was incredible. Dare i say one of the best systems i've heard.
To be honest the first thing id probably recommend is sound deadening. Get a reputable audio place to install some Dynamat int he doors/floors/pillars etc. makes a world of difference. As for the system itself i really wouldn't bother changing it its all engineered to work off the standard PCM unit (i don't thnk there was an external amp on the Bose systems?).
if you wanted to replace the lot, Focal K2 speakers, JL Audio W7 and a Genesis monoblock amp was in my old car and that was just sublime.

I did put Focal speakers and crossovers in my E61 - vast improvement. But that was a different issue - top end is fine in this its just the lower mids that are so loose and indistinct. Must be an issue driven by the smallish subwoofer in the spare wheel well - wonder how it works on the Burmester system? Anyone have one?

Well, just found that a X Fire 500w RMS amp and a X Fire 12" subwoofer in a box will fit neatly in the spare wheel well and awaiting a cost...
The built in Bose one is in a plastic enclosure and is probably only 6". They build their reputation on such cr@p componentry?!
I probably need to find an ICE forum for some advice as its a brand I never heard of (and has a neon logo on the amp
) - anyone know a good one?
