Hi, I have an 320D Drift car. Everytime I start it up to drift It takes (obviously) Some time to warm up. But I don't want to be Idling for ages and wasting fuel. So is it OK to rev to abouts 3-4k RPM which is near redline when the engine is still in the blue zone? It's been running for a couple minutes at this point. I know I shouldn't but I cannot go on the road to warm it up normally as It has no MOT. Any answers are apreciated.

What would be most concerning is the oil not being up to operating temperature. It doesn’t flow well when it’s cold. Thus you’re likely to be increasing wear on things such as bearings etc, also the turbo.

Up to you, just be aware it may shorten the lifespan of various components.

Given that you're using it for drifting I would expect the rest of the car to fall to pieces before the engine does.

Having said that, it's not a good idea to run an engine too fast with cold fluids. Seeing as you'll be doing effectively a fast idle as the engine won't be under load you may as well just let it idle naturally. The amount of fuel used won't be that great, and again, you're using it to drift so I can't see fuel economy as being a matter of importance.

Some quick reading shows that a 7.3L Ford diesel truck uses half a US Gallon idling for an hour.

A US Gallon is smaller than our Gallons and your BMW is probably going to use half or less compared to the big truck. If you can't afford 25p in fuel to let the car warm up for 5 minutes you should probably just take up walking or something instead.

Thanks everybody for your replies, I will idle it long enough next time for sure, And yes I can afford 25p lmao. And in reply to "the rest of the car will fall apart before the negine does" Yes true, but If i skid around 20 mins a week will it really? I'm not doing track days yet.. I'm new and I need to practice. (don't judge please) Thanks again.
