Seriously considering buying the above RS4 and have a viewing arranged for later this week.
Currently running a 2014 SQ5 in Monsoon Grey on 41000-miles.

The RS4 has my ideal spec and have previously owned a B7 RS4 for 8-years from new and missing the V8 sound and the planted feel of the RS4.

Grateful for any replies on this.

Thanks.

I've already shared my feelings but at that money you can reasonably expect history and maintenance to be spot on and a reasonable warranty inclusive.

I don’t know the exact car but I had a 2014 with very similar spec. Check the service history against the book paying particular attention to the gearbox oil if that’s needed doing. Mine lunched it’s gearbox and it’s not a cheap repair out of warranty so either get one thrown in or buy an insured warranty.

Try asking on RS246 about the exact car.

At that mileage make sure that it had the front final drive oil change done, often it's missed out due to service advisor staff incompetence.

On the RS246 forum within the B8 RS4 section, you will find a FAQ sticky post. There I have detailed a service schedule/maintenance topic for what these cars require.

Thanks very much for your replies... I have had a look at the B8 RS4 Service schedules on the RS246.com Forum, and will be sure to ask about this.
I appreciate your help!

Agree on the diff and gearbox oil, when I was booking my B8 in for a service I got conflicting stories from 3 dealers as I shopped around, all a bit worrying at the time. In the end I had the oils changed by a trusted indie after the main dealer service and saved a few quid. We also ran an SQ alongside (wife's car at the time), you will miss the torque as the B8 is fairly gutless at low revs.

Wouldn’t say gutless at low revs. I daily mine. If you leave in Drive it shifts to high gears very early and even when you put your foot down say half for extra pace it doesn’t drop to such a low gear. Sport is quite a good compromise. If you really want to enjoy it, I like comfort engine setting with gearbox used manually. Works really well on the road.

Dynamic is also really good where you want the added throttle response.

The overall flexibility of the engine is just so good with this car. Love it to bits!

I did over 50,000 miles in my B8 over 2 years, I liked it but not as much as my old B7 and I stand by the gutless comment, I've no axe to grind. It just has to be wound up, which as a daily driver put it behind the B7 for me and if the OP is coming out of an SQ I thought he should be aware.

Having driven both the RS4 and SQ5 (that’s what Audi gave me when my RS4 ate it’s gearbox) I feel qualified to judge. The SQ5 is quick but very dull, you can get to 60 very quickly with a little bit of pretend exhaust noise and no drama and zero sensation. The RS4 is the opposite, it loves to be revved and to get to 60 as fast as a lot of the more powerful 6 pot diesels on the market will require you hitting some serious revs which makes you look a bit of a hooligan but it doesn’t matter because you’ll be grinning like a Cheshire Cat and they won’t be feeling anything. It’s not gutless it’s just not torquey. I now drive a mustang which has a lot more low down grunt but that’s offset by the lack of traction. The RS4 can launch with everything it’s got in all but the sttiest conditions.

The RS4 is a reasonably quick car and it’s grip is near unlimited with just a hint of understeer to warn you that you’re pushing your luck but that’s not what makes it fun, 8250rpm in an NA V8 is. With hindsight that probably explains how I got through a gearbox in 14,000 miles!

I'd say that's a better summary (having also driven these quite extensively).

I should qualify that I think it's 'gutless' at low revs in normal mode (most daily drive situations), it does lack torque but is a hoot at high revs. All I would say is that i don't miss the B8, but I'd grab the keys of a B7 in a heartbeat. Having owned an SQ5 and the B8 at the same time, I also feel qualified to comment.
