Finally the wedge is back on the road, just completed a bit of a shake down and had all my work check by the local garage. Everything OK apart from a slight water leak on a hose and a track rod end.

I got a bit carried away over the winter, lifting the body, removing/replacing fuel system, suspension, brake inspection refurb, interior etc etc etc

The suspension is now a bit harder due to the sports springs and superflex bushes but corners lovely but the car still stinks of waxoyl and paint burning off the manifolds plus I still need to tweak the timing as in the upper rev range there is a slight stumble. I have set it to 5 deg BTDC for unleaded so any advice would be welcome.

Next project will be the veneer so will follow streaky's instructions maybe in the Autumn but it will suffice for now plus I replaced the glove box with vinyl as the veneer was beyond repair.

Anyway managed a good few miles with the hood down and hopefully a good play in the highlands this weekend so fingers crossed for sunshine errr OK just no rain.

Huge smiles now and worth all the effort

Nice one. Is it Ruby Mica Red? I'm interested in which springs you've used - the back seems quite low, especially compared to the front, I assume you've also got adjustable platforms? And why did TVR spend all that money filling their interiors with all that leather and "wood", quality steering wheel, but leave the naff old Rover gear knob??

Paul.

Yep Ruby Mica Red, nice gold tint to it, I used RT Racing springs front and rear though the fronts had to be trimmed to bring the car more or less level. RT mentioned this when I ordered the springs and asked about heights in PH as there seems to be various heights.
As for the interior I think a nice gearknob, steering wheel etc is called for but next project is an LPG installation for that monster next to the tiv.

I will stick the rebuild photo link up tomorrow as the before and after interior shots are quite interesting

Sun is out here so you know what I am doing tonight
Best regards
Hamish

Interesting - I bought a set of Richard's springs a while back, but after putting the fronts on, there just seemed way too much clearance between tyre and arch, so I took them off again. Rears were fine though.

Glad to see you have it all back together Hamish, looks really nice.

Just out of interest which springs did you get from RT? I have yet to fit mine on, they were the 400 HD springs, but I am slightly worried about ride height now, although it would be nice to leave the drive without bottoming out!

Look forward to seeing all the build pictures

Yep I had the same issue when I fitted the front, car looked ready for take off with nose in the air but RT did say I would have to adjust to suit. The rears were spot on and the same height as the old ones which I guess they have to be as they are flat bottomed but the fronts have a continual spiral, not sure why but maybe just ease of manufacture. Anyway once I fitted all the spirngs I placed the car back on the ground and measured around the sills, removed the fronts and removed excess spring length. Unfortunately this is not an exact science as it is dependant on the condition of the body to chassis rubber (Mines all new) though you could just measure the old spring but sag and compression through age may not offer an accurate measurement.

I must admit heights were a concern and I looked at many photo's on wedgepages plus gained some advice from fellow wedgers but in essense I think heights vary. However in the TVR handbook there are dimensions and mine is quite close to the spec now.

Front Springs WAO359, Rear Springs WAO360

Cheers
Hamish
