After starting my other thread (last week) on not sending goods, I’m now receiving E mails from a E bay scammer. I’m 100% sure it’s a scam, but one of the E mails produced had photos of the vans V5, alongside driving licence with the same address as the V5 aswell as a photo of his Passport confused. This actually had me doubting my suspicions, but it was soon followed by getting van delivered, using E bay protection etc. The English used in the E mails stinks of a scam, but the photos mentioned earlier clearly show the guy is Croatian, so again makes you think twice. I’m happy to upload the photos and text, if it’s allowed? as I’m curious to know if my thoughts are genuinely justified and how they come across all this stuff.

ps. Original advert was on Gumtree and advertised as the vehicle being in South Shields, before all the talk switched to using E bay and him living and working in Scotland (funny old thing, about as far North as you can go).

AFAIK, eBay's buyer's protection doesn't apply to vehicles.

SS is North, unless I'm reading sarcasm where I shouldn't?

Still probably a scam though! (I just don't like e-bay)

No sarcasm intended. Yes South Shields (SS) is in the North East, but the seller/scammer is now in Northern Scotland (NS). The travelling time from his original advert in SS to his now new location NS would be in excess of 10 hours.

Get the seller to send you an original geo-tagged photo of the street he lives on (a reverse google search can check it).You can then check street view to se if it ties up.

At least that proves he is where he says he is.

I asked for photos of the engine bay as they weren’t included in the original ones. It’s now gone quiet as he was obviously using photos from a genuine seller, it’s also been re advertised on Gumtree at a 1k less, even though it’s original price was too good to be true anyway.

1. Van
2. "In Scotland" (if you were in Scotland or the North, it would be in Devon)
3. Non-UK seller

Scam.
