So my Polo has come back with "Offside Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect" as a MOT advisory.

Is this a common fault on Polo's of that age? and how much to put right? Any preferred suppliers of shock absorbers?

I presume your front shocks are the originals so they would be 8 years old. Yes wear does make this happen. With the roads of today it’s not a surprise. I bought and fitted my front shocks on my 2007 vw polo for £40 for the pair (cheap shocks). Decent shocks would be bilstein/monroe/KYB/TRW. A pair of decent shocks will be in the regen of £50to £80+.
A garage will supply and fit for roughly £150/200.

That’s a rough guide, hope that helps,

Matt
