Evening to all, I'm just thinking about ordering some painted pattern part wings for my orient blue coupe.
Have any of you done this? My thoughts are because of the colour, my car won't have changed as much as say, a red car due to uv light etc.
I'm fairly sure it's not original paint on the wings due to lacquer peel, but they match the car perfectly.
So, anyone done this? The wings I'm looking at are coming from a body shop in Ireland and look to be well done.
Cheers,
Daz.

I’ve used eBay pre painted E46 wings before. They were a good paint match and finish. Fit wasn’t as good as gen BMW but still good and vastly better than factory fit newer models such as the F30.

These wings were made in Malaysia I think.

You'll notice, but only if you try hard enough. Keep the side trim from your old wing, you'll need it.

I actually rattle canned a new wing because I have an impossible to find colour. Under some lights it's noticeably different but it's hugely better than rust.

It's worth examining the arch lip edge and dusting some paint on if it's not got much on. If you can be bothered, paint some grease into the arch lip. Those top domed Torx bolts are a right bd top get out - clout the socket first, and use a good soccer and ratchet.

I'm not sure good football skills are going to help remove a BMW wing TBH! wink

Not sure how this would work on some of the paints. On my car, I bought a genuine wing on ebay cheap. I didn't want the car off the road, so asked a local body shop to paint it and accepted the chance on the paint match. The paint code for mine then has 3 slightly different shades under the one code ( 308 I think, met black ) which the body shop used 3 examples swatches to match. Painting it on just the code may have lead to a guess and a worse match than was otherwise possible.
