I leased an Alltrack - and had a disaster at the beginning. Basically tacked the car I ordered, it arrived, sold my car & then told that VWFS would not honor the deal. This went on for a few weeks & I have all the amusing finger pointing VWFS emails blaming each other - it really is comical!!

Get to the end of the lease & there is a tiny mark, which they want to charge me £138 for. I raised a case - stating the service at the beginning etc was so poor, they should provide some good will.

I send emails over a period of 5 weeks - all ignored & now they say they have closed the case & I have to go to financial omnibus thing.

Any advice - ok not end of world but they seem totally incompetent & disconnected

So your lease has been damaged whilst in your care but VW should cover it, despite the details of your legally binding agreement saying otherwise?

I am saying that a) VWFS should not ignore me more to the point. Also - inspection company did say it was insignificant so shouldn't be an issue. Coupled with grief at start - at least a token effort should have come from VWFS IMO

Again - not end of world - just interested in other views really

I've got no idea what the disaster was at the beginning of the lease, as your description doesn't make much sense.

On the question of damage, is the mark within the BVRLA wear & tear guidelines? In any case, the sum of £138 is pretty inconsequential in the grand scheme of things, but as long as your time spent in chasing goodwill from VWFS is worth less that £138 then go for it.

Do you know the size of the mark in order to check it against BVRLA guidelines (if you have not already done so)?

My disaster at the beginning of the lease was they made a U Turn the day I was due to get the car delivered and said i couldn't have the car- many months after the order & when I had sold the current car!

They gave me a tracking number for Passat months before delivery and the day they were due to deliver it - called me & said they could no longer honor it. I have amusing emails showing the bickering between VW dealer & VWFS. After kicking up a fuss, bit of blood boiling on my part they did honor it

I'd ignore the upset from months ago and not expect goodwill.

By all means vote with your feet (or the omnibus) and let them know why, but as another poster pointed out, is the money worth the hassle/upset.

I found them pretty good to deal with when mine went back early, no comeback on anything, was slightly over mileage <100 but bodywork was fine apart from a few chips on the bonnet , I never heard a thing from them after the collection.

Maybe they are trying to recoup some of the money from the alltrack deal? didn't you all pay about £30 a month to lease them? biggrin

Depends - I was talking to someone about leasing and these were 1 year leases. Very much giving the OP the benefit of the doubt in terms of carrying a grudge.

that bb alltrack lease deal was 2016. i hate threads like this as the op's real question should be about the damage, not dragging up some st 2 years ago. I bet the op has actually had a good service, besides initial hiccup.

OP, I had a small chip and dent on my Leaf when I returned it and was only charged £48.

It was probably 3mm in diameter so pretty small.

Refer to the guidelines for what they are entitled to charge and what is legitimate wear and tear.

£138 in damages over the whole time you drove it.? Happy days, pay it and move on! It’s really not a lot of money is it

If it is just a tiny mark I think the OP is right to want to challenge it, £138 is not a massive amount of money but it is still an amount I would not want to spend needlessly.
The Leon we gave back (to VWFS) a couple of weeks ago had a small scuff to the bumper corner which had taken a small amount of paint off and nothing was charged for.

If it was a particularly cheap lease, you can expect them to be hounds when it comes to hand-back time. Thats how they make a bit of money.

With sensible hat on, its 138quid on top of what was probably an extremely cheap lease. Id pay up and get on with my life.
Nail on the head - £138 is two months rental on the Alltrack - so very cheap :-)

Thanks all - will pay & move on, just hate being ignored by VWFS

I wouldn't say it's poor at all. Sounds like a first world problem in all fairness.

Life is too short to worry about insignificant things, and I doubt the stress for resisting is value for money on a person's health.
