I saw this video on another forum

https://youtu.be/2mhXkRJD6Do

The guy was wondering if anybody can explain what he done wrong but didn’t get an answer.

He said he’s got good tyres and the bike was warm.

Any thought?

That was my first thought. Poor line into a right-hand bend, tried to tip too far into it too quickly.

I slow-mo'd it and couldnt see any evidence ..... doesn't mean there wasn't, but if there were he wouldn't need to ask what happened ?

Too fast and without his right hand in shot can't tell if he grabbed a handful of front brake causing the front to fold, doesn't take much and at this time of year tyres aren't warm, even after my 42 mile commute they are at best luke warm ... not warm enough for me to go piling into bends at a rate of knots ...

I'd file that under 'sh** happens' ....

Definitely looks like he was coming in a bit too hot, and completely the wrong angle for the bend

Hes a lucky lad. Those barrier posts could have seriously injured or killed him if he had slid underneath and hit one of those posts.

20 ish years ago I came across the aftermath of someone who had slid under a barrier like that which took his arm off at the shoulder letting what looked like his guts come out of the gaping hole.

He died.

OP tell the guy to get this reported to his local highways department;

Barrier looks really new, can't see they'd want to remove that.

He missed the manhole cover completely.

Nice the driver of the white car stopped to help.

I still new to motorbike riding so please go easy on me

but if it was me on the bike I would have pushed the right bar forward to turn in, not pushing the left bar forward as he did in the video.

From my more experienced pedal bike rider point of view - To me it looked like he just threw the bike on the floor as he leant over and stepped off the bike.

So is this the “countersteering” phenomenon (yeh I said it, sorry)

The barrier, there should be a rail near to the ground.

I would agree with you. From my perspective it looks like he went in a bit quick on the wrong line, he 'target fixated' and was heading in a direction he didn't want to travel in, panicked and turned the handlebars more instead of counter-steering and leaning in harder. Angle did not look acute enough to lose traction like that, even with the lower temperatures we've been having.

You can just make out that he doesn’t grab the front brake, but it does look like he steers the wrong way into the corner and pulls the clutch in at the same time.

The fact there's a barrier there suggests it's a bend lots of people get wrong.

I can't really tell what the rider got wrong. His line does look odd (too tight entry).

Absolutely no way was that too fast, he was barely catching the van, and that radius would easily be pegs down/knee down etc.

Either he has panic braked, or, on the approach to the corner there is a marking on the centre of the lane which could be nothing, or could be oil/diesel.

It looks like he lost the front on the way in steered more.

Either that black line he ran along is very slippery, he did something very daft to unsettle the bike or his front tyre is phukt?

Clsssic survival reactions. He realises he is too hot and on the wrong line, so instinctively chops the throttle and tries to turn, causing the front to tuck in.
Cold tyres and camber didn't help.

+1 for losing the front end, possibly as a result of cold tyres or too much front brake when cranked over
