Peter if I sell the car later in the year and the new owner doesn't want the catted manifolds (flanges opended out for the Stage III exhaust ports) and Y piece then you'll be welcomed to them. They are the origanl V8S bolted flange arrangement though.

But the piece on eBay has no main cats... It's nowt to do with the pre's...

Maybe. The MOT doesn't stipulate that a car must have a main cat to pass. The requirement is that the car passes the emmissions test, which I would imagine is far harder to do sans cat.

I know of at least one person that ran their S6 without cats and had no probs getting it through the MOT. Not sure about the RV8s though; I would imagine that it's much harder to do with these.

I guess the cats could be replaced for each MOT, although it would be a PITA...

having spoken to act re decatting the PRE cats [in the exhaust manifolds], if I understood him correctly, tim said that they can often burn out anyway, so I guess that it may then fail without the next, primary, cat.

The Y piece is not difficult to change. I have 2 y-pieces (+cat & -cat), only takes 30-60 mins to change them over depending on distractions.... + I have to undo/fasten 16 bolts on the flanges. Have to get gaskets in bulk from Blackpool tho :-)

I was considering totally decatting mine but as I understand it, although the car doesn't legally need the cat to be in place, there's not a hope in hell of a properly setup, originally catted, RV8 engined TVR passing the emissions test without one.

Also, the space where the cat would normally be is pretty big and I've read comments that suggest that it doesn't actually help that much performance wise. Maybe something to do with back pressure etc.

Nice sound, but too loud for long journeys. Pick up seems even quicker, but very difficult to tell. Tried changing the tune resistor also but this made little discernable difference.

Wildfire, im new to all this, are those pre-catted manifolds or sports manifolds or are they one of the same thing?
