Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with an oil leak?

I’ve got a 2015. Sq5 so it’s the diesel one

Was in for service last week. Audi garage said there was a bad oil leak with oil dripping onto the undertray

Car drives fine

Audi tech said they couldn’t see where it was leaking from and it needs steam cleaning so they can identify where leak is

I’m thinking any oil leak isn’t good, and if I start paying for cleaning, investigation, parts, labour then it could quickly become expensive

Anyone else had oil leaks from their sq5 of similar age?

Can’t be that far out of warranty is it, I’d be pushing for Audi goodwill at the very minimum. Has it got service history up to date? What mileage? It must be a large leak if it needs steam cleaning, sounds like building it up into a big job to me...

Yeah Audi service history in full and 4 months out of warranty

I’m kind of done for either way, right now I don’t know if it’s serious or not. If I get it investigated I’ll be into bills for finding the problem and if it comes back as bad then that’s ££££

One hour of labour (or less) at an indie specialist will have it diagnosed.

It will be a far bigger bill if the engine seizes through lack of oil.

Get it checked out.

Might only need a new gasket somewhere.

Hi you should try Porsche and Euro cars at Grimesthorpe Barnsley. They are very good and fair.

For Huddersfield, I've used in the past:

IVS - Manchester Road
Peter Ellam - Near Bradford Road
Ashbrow Garage - Near Asda on Bradford Road

all were pretty decent, IVS probably cheapest, it's pretty much one guy in a shed.

On this topic.....were you driving around Huddersfield around 6pm last night? A black SQ5 sped away from me at lights, I tried to keep up to have some fun, but the lights caught me haha

thank you for the replies, for anyone that is interested, my car has been into German Autocare who have garages in Wakefield and Leeds.

they have diagnosed a oil leak coming from the timing case cover

from what i understand this needs things like the Gearbox to be removed before they can get to the parts that need replacing. so quite a big job unfortunately
