The E55 AMG and E46 M3 are two cars on my radar which I'd like to own. Have I missed the boat? Or will prices continue to fall slightly more?

I'd be after a coupe manual for the M3.

E46 M3, three to five years ago ~ £3-4K. Now ~£7k minimum (S54 engines are £4K alone). I’d say that ship has sailed...

Are you sure on the £3-4K?
I’ve kept an eye on the E46 over time and only ever seen them at £5-6k minimum with 130k on the clock 3 or so years ago.

There’ll be dogs around but nice examples nowadays are £10-12k aren’t they.

Just looked. Some asking for £15k on M3Cutters redface

Agreed, 5-6K was the cheapest I ever saw them

A lot look to be getting priced on the back of the CSL and CS, seen some around the 20K mark, but they have been for sale for a while, doesnt mean thats what they are selling for

They bottomed out at around 6k a few years back.

3-4k is a figment of someone’s imagination unless they are confusing the e46 with an e36?

E55 is bottom right now, find a good one for 12k or so and I don't think you'll lose anything.

E46 are on the up, again 12k gets a real solid car with the key repairs and maintenance done.

Sub 10k for both cars is achievable if you want a dog that needs 5k spending on it!

Is it the normally aspired 5.4v8 or the kompressor?
W211 I think it’the code for the E55K.

I have also kept an eye on e46s over the years.
Last year or so they have crept up. I was looking for manual coupe couple of years ago and they are definitely 2-3k more now. Cheaper ones poor history and couple had subframe cracks life got in the way and stopped looking. Verts with smg are cheap.
e36 were at 3-4K about 5 years back mate of mine got one, few jobs needed doing but was a good buy. Worth a bit now.

No, they were about. My friend bought one (early model with SMG and undesirable colour). Cost him £3.5k and then the SMG pump promptly st itself. A rare find I admit. Point still stands, the boat is long gone on cheap E46’s.
