I never understood why so many cars have this. If it doesn't say how much it is I simply don't bother calling. Is it just me?

Not just you. I have never bothered to call about a car, listed like that.

Rightly or wrongly, I always perceive them to be overpriced and the seller is too embarrassed to admit it in type.

I find MOA to be just as bad. Just admit it's been to the moon and back in the advert!

If it's listed as POA it's got to be outside my price range.biggrin

It must be a ploy used to deter the riffraff, like wot we is.

It always puts me off too, although I do aspire to one day be wealthy enough to be able to think that it doesn't matter what they're asking, I will be able to afford it anyway!

I usually associate it with the "just testing the water" brigade - its going to be priced way above what its really worth to any sane person.

Having said that theres probably exceptions and no doubt someone somewhere has snapped up a bargain.

If I have to ask, I can't afford.

So it’s not just me then! Without a listed price I feel unable to judge if it’s even worth my while clicking to investigate further, so I don’t. Doesn’t matter what the car is, they’ve lost my interest instantly, which surely was the point of advertising (btw same is true of auction houses that when you click the ad send you to their home page, not the car, or even the right auction).

Love to hear from any dealers who do this why they do it.

I recently emailed a dealer about a car that was advertised POA and MOA asking for both details. I got a very prompt reply that amounted to "come take a look at the car at our showroom.... we have lots of other great cars like this" none of the details I requested.

I think it's just a marketing exercise and many of the cars are ones previously sold or don't exist.

I agree. It's not even a good marketing technique as presumably 90% of your potential customers won't bother to call?
