2018 VW Tiguan - 4WD oil change service query
Discussion
Hoping someone can help here to understand the service interval for a 2018 VW Tiguan 4 motion when it comes to the 4 wheel drive oil as I can't find this information.
Wife has just picked her car up from the main dealers and despite it being covered by a Service Pack purchase with the car when we bought it new we have been charged £79 for a gear oil change parts and labour. This was done by the dealer without OKing the costs.
Plus if this is routine servicing rather than consumables the wording in the service pack mean this should be covered.
Anyone else have experience of this?
The car was new in Feb 2017 and has 18k miles on the clock.
To top it all off they called my wife to say the windscreen wipers needed changing which she OK'd them doing which was £50 on top.
Will take it myself next time...

Yes – I’ve had this out with both SEAT and VW – they say the service plan only covers scheduled servicing. The new car plan used to be for 3yrs and brake fluid is required at 3yrs so how come that isn’t covered? “It’s not a scheduled service item, sir”. So how is “change at 3yrs, then every 2yrs, not a schedule? “It’s a customer option, sir.” Yet ask them without reference to the service plan and they tell you the change is “mandatory.”Plus if this is routine servicing rather than consumables the wording in the service pack mean this should be covered.

The interval is noted in the link above. It used to be 40K but it changed to 3yrs about 18mths ago. I took wife’s Tiguan in for its 3yr service a couple of months ago and the dealer was absolutely adamant that it was 40K. I had to get VW to call them to tell them it was 3yrs. To top it all off they called my wife to say the windscreen wipers needed changing which she OK'd them doing which was £50 on top.
Your dealer has stolen £79 off you. At least they only charged the VW fixed price - my dealer tried to charge more - although strictly speaking fixed pricing ionly applies to cars that are 3yrs old or more! To make it worse, changing the oil probably consisted of writing it on the invoice.

I got slagged off last time I said this, but I’ve tried several times over the years and it doesn’t work to let my wife or daughters take their cars to dealers. Dealer staff are aggressively targeted to upsell work – they make a lot of money out of it and get fired if they don’t.Tomo1971 said:
It did need doing. They do have a habit of packing up if not serviced.
There is a school of thought that changing the Haldex oil every 10K miles wouldn't be a bad thing - they pack up often enough even when serviced but many owners don't know as there's no indication of a fault.VW dealers don't service them anyway, all they do it change the oil. The OPs car will have gen 5 Haldex which doesn't have a filter - the gen 4 does, but VW don't change it anyway, the filter doesn't even exist as a VW part.
Both have a mesh screen in front of the pump which gets horribly clogged up. Ideally the pump needs to be removed and the screen cleaned.
