Seeing we’ll hardly be in the damn place as far as I’m concerned as little as possible, as far as she’ll be concerned it’ll have to be a nice hotel , iyswim.

Radisson Blu, Mercer Street is ok and not crazy money.

Club Quarters Hotel, St Paul's used to be good - only a short cab journey. Surprisingly quiet. Next to St Pauls and you can walk across to Tate Modern in the morning.

There’s a travel lodge/premier inn at CG, brother stays there when they go for the rugby.

If your budget will allow and you don’t mind a short walk the corinthia, or lower budget, club quarters.

We tend to stay (and play) on the south bank now, everything is a short walk/cab/bike over the river.

You can get a great deal at the Mondrian (and the best views).

The Travelodge on Drudy lane is clean and functional with a surprisingly decent breakfast buffet and acceptable coffee!

Depending on dates you're going to struggle to get a room somewhere decent for <£200. The Travelodge will likely be >£150 and will be st. So you'll have spent >£150 on st. Why waste the money? Makes sense to spend more and have something enjoyable (including a happy wife!). smile

Strand Palace is OK these days I believe - big hotel, well located and not crazy money by London standards.

Monmouth Kitchen at the Radisson Blu is a pretty good restaurant - don't be put off by the idea of Italian/Peruvian!

just stayed there in half term- with wife and kids. cheap enough, NCP car park underneath- you get discounted rates- otherwise its £45 a day. I drove down from w.yorks, wasn't viable for me to use a train- so actually cheaper when you tot it up.

we were never in the place- out all day/evening being tourists.

breakfast was ok.

bloody awful coffee though !!!!

I would second a vote for Strand Palace

Can often be found on discount sites if you're worried about budget, was about £160/night for a double room at a weekend around this time last year
