Is it just me or are the fonts on the TVR website really difficult to see... dark blue on black??? faint grey???... must look nice on someone's PC but barely readable on mine.

I agree. I sent TVR an email about it as I couldn't read who their dealers were (was checking to see if CN were still one). Very poor UI design; purple text on black background? Where's Jakob Nielsen when you need him?

I can see the above picture perfectly......
However, the last time I visted the TVR site, I couldn't see much either, one of my customers looked at the site, unplugged the monitor, launched it into the green wheely bin at the back of the shop & proceeded to order me a new one.
He said, quote "no wonder your eyes are f***ed"
p.s. I can now see their site perfectly.

I have three monitors here. My main monitor is a 22" CRT, second is a 15" TFT, third is a 17" CRT. On both CRTs, the text is unreadable, unless you squint and bob your head around like a nutter.
On the TFT it is readable, but not clear. Is your new monitor a TFT?
I know why those colours have been chosen, and in a brochure or similar, would look superb. But I believe they are a poor choice for a medium where you can't control the user's equipment.

Can't beieve that Jakob Nielsen has been mentioned on Pistonheads!! That's the last name I expected to see on here.
But have to agree that the TVR site is very poor. Why the obsession with building flash/shockwave dominated sites?!? Usability is so so poor, hope that didn't pay too much for it. Quite a few of the dealer's sites are as bad and don't help them to sell the cars. Slight case of "form over function".

Rather than reverting to kicking people why not offer your help and ideas to the powers that be. We're all volunteers and spend time trying to organise events to interest the members. I'm sure any offer of help would not fall on deaf ears.

It's eady to do now when so many companies have switched to TFTs, we released a web application that worked fine at all our clients (3000+ users) until an old branch connected and started to moan - they had CRTs of course!
Also because it's Flash you can't copy and paste the unreadable dealers out to Notepad unfortunately.

My mistake!. I really thought you were on about the
TVRCC website not TVR. That'll teach me to try and do four things at the same time.

CRTs should have nothing to do with it. They have a larger gamut than TFTs. Probably just not set up right.

I'm using a new 19" crt, the old 15" crt couldn't see the "click hear to scroll" part at all, I used to have to randomly press until I found it

Exactly. The very fact that we are having this discussion is testament to the fact that the design has failed.
I mentioned dear old Jakob tongue-in-cheek; it would be impossible to have a site that met all his requirements whilst still looking good, but the TVR site certainly has some way to go
