As title, whats the most frightening thing someone has said to you?

Whether it be someone in the right state of mind or not.

For me, it was when my Mother told me she had bladder cancer. She is currently clear and doing well. But that initial conversation struck the fear of God into me.

"I'm sorry but there is nothing more we can do"

The paramedics having tried to revive my mum. Still as clear and vivid now as the day it happened.

"I've got stage 4 prostate cancer"

My dad told me in March. I cried nearly every day for a week. Fast forward to now and he seems fine, the meds are working really well. In my head he was dead by now.

The words every owner of an Alpina B5 or 6 dreads "your supercharger is passing some oil"

On a more serious note, when my Dad told me he had Mesothelioma, and about 12 months to live. Felt like a car had been dropped on my chest.

A phone call from my mum on January 13th this year, saying 'Get round here, somethings happened to your dad'.

I got to me parents house within a minute (I live in the same village), just in time to flag the paramedics down who were looking for the house.
I went in at the same time as them, to see my dad dead on the kitchen floor surrounded by a big pool of blood.

It turned out that he had an un diagnosed tumour in his aesophygus and lung which had burst drowning him in his own blood. 10 months on I can still see the image of him dead on the floor every time I close my eyes.

A close second was when the hospital said my wife had had a miscarriage as she was bleeding at an early stage of pregnancy. This comes second because she hadn't had one and our son is now 11.

In my younger years (at uni), this was really worrying. Nowadays, although I'm not married, I'll do the right thing and am not stressed about it. I guess it was down to being more worried about how my parents would react. I went to uni to get a degree not get someone pregnant. biggrin

1. "You're Dad has end of life stage 4 COPD"

Doctor at DRI.

Three weeks later.

2. "You're Dad has collapsed outside and an ambulance has been called"

Some random passer by.

DON'T SMOKE AS IT'S NOT A GOOD SCHEME.

Cause of death
1 COPD
2 Heart Failure.

I'll kill you. I'll stab you in the face. Keep looking over your shoulder. I'm gonna kill you.
Leaving out the bad language that was repeated to me several times by my receptionist's son, 26, 6 foot, big and on drugs. Wanted to kill me because I couldn't tell him where his mother was so he could beat her up. Turned out she was at the police station telling them about the threats he made to her. Nice guy.

You were having a fag in the back of the ambulance? Man, that's dedication.

Glad you're ok

My 3 year old son - "what about the others?"
Me - "what others?"
Son - "the other people who live here, what about them?"

We've just moved into a big, very old house which used to be a nursing home!
