I am trying to write a letter to my local MP requesting action over some trees and drainage in the area but I am really struggle to put thoughts onto email.

I know what I would like and the issues are well documented and resulted in a number of homes being flooded out earlier in the year. Since then no action has been taken and the situation allowed to get even worse than it was before and my worry is, with the time of year and the incumbent weather we could be looking at a repeat of what happened back in May.

It's frustrating I write stuff like this all the time for friends and family but when it comes to doing this for myself I can barely string a coherent sentence together. It would seem when I don't have an emotional attachment to the topic I am fine but when I do all I can get written out is;

Dear bunch of useless bds in elected office,

Sort your collective st out.

Retards!

How do you overcome such a block? I am going to make a fresh brew, put some music on to clear my head and try again, all tips greatly appreciated!

Mindfulness and a little bit of meditation to clear the mind

Or a bike ride

They always do it for me!

Just tooling around on PH now and listening to some Rag'n'Bone Man to chill my mind, seems to be helping!

Have you got a framework?

A letter can be hard to write. Try this.

Dear ####,

ISSUE: Two sentences max, outlining the issue.

RECOMMENDATION: split into paragraphs for each separate recommendation.

TIMELINE: when it needs to be achieved by to be successful.

BACKGROUND: this is where you can actually write a paragraph or three on what the genuine issue is and the general background.

Yours,

Mr blobby

Anyone in the MOD will be pretty familiar with this framework. It means the geezer in question can just say yes to proposals and not have to read much. It also forces you to be succinct and clear, and will therefore make it easier to put thoughts on paper.

My MP wrote back to me advising that this is a council issue and to get onto my local Councillors, so I am writing to them now. It's a struggle, I didn't vote for any of them precisely because they have proven inept on previous occasions and continue to prove me right!

Still, one must continue fighting the fight!

This actually helped, I am using it again today to write my next letter to them.
