Hopefully, an easy one...!

My OH is looking for another job, and has registered with an employment agency. Along with the CV and 'normal' personal details, they have also requested her National Insurance number.

Is this standard procedure nowadays, and if so - why?

Cheers.

Need more than that.

Erm, they take your NI number so they can pay you, when they get you a placement? Or it helps to register you?

Full birth certificate and proof of NI are good enough for rtw. If passport is used for rtw then NI number is just for paye purposes if/when a contract starts. If your OH is only seeking a perm role, her NI isn’t needed.

No harm in supplying her NI number at the outset as it saves hassle later.

HTH.
