I’m looking at taking a short break to Paris next January and considering Flybe. However from reading the press, they are looking a little vulnerable at the moment.

Am I right to be cautious or are they sound and just having a blip.

I assume if I do book, use a credit card!

Shame if they go belly up as I use them a lot to fly the Manchester to Aberdeen route.

I see they are advertising summer flight promotions, they are either confident of mad for cash flow. Before the latest developments I booked return flights with Flybe for my family of four, traveling 26 Dec - 7 Jan, I fully expect them to happen. The alternative, a 250 mile each way drive with ferry crossings with my lot has me filled with dread.

January, I wouldn't be so concerned about, May or afterwards I would be. Flybe aren't the same kind of fly-by-night operation as Primera and are accepting that they have a bit of a problem earlier rather than later so they aren't likely so cease operations overnight.

However what's the difference between Flybe and the others (Jet2, Air Frog)? If it's only £20 or so, I'd pay that for peace of mind.

Also a common myth that debit cards do not offer the same protection as debit cards is well... a myth. You can do a chargeback on debit cards.

It would be a shame if Flybe wen't under, they have a few good routes from Southampton.

I’m not surprised they’re looking vulnerable given their prices.

It probably depends on the route. There was an article in The Independent on this and there travel writer is usually quite well informed.

He was basically saying that Flybe were unlikely to go under but could well be taken over and if that happened some routes would be at risk.
