If you've followed me around this forum you'll know i am as indecisive as they come.

I've flitted from RS3's, MX5's, R53 Minis, Boxster S, Teslas and even an i3s at one point.

Man math made each one of them make sense but the one you can't fool is the bank statements frown

Background - I live in Cambridge and work in Essex - its a 140 mile daily commute which we bought an i3 for - it made sense. Keep the S3 in the garage and use that on weekends... job jobbed.

Then the missus got a promotion (selfish, i've already told her this..) and as a result she now needs to drive all over the place. No problem, here's the i3, i'm going to get a tesla, all the fun of the S3 and save a fortune!

The closer we got to ordering the colder my feet got.. could i really sink £75k into a car from a company where the dude in charge looks like he's taking bets on how quickly he can make the ass fall out of his company.

The day came to go sign on the dotted line and we bottled it..we decided we could buy another i3 for me and with the change get a weekend car -a boxster S maybe..

We went back to BMW, by this time the 120 battery and the i3s were being advertised. Once i've seen there's a 120 i cant buy the 94, it just wouldn't sit right..

Salesman tells me i won't be able to get one until feb! That's no good for me.. the S3 lease runs out Nov 30th, i need another car now!

Work has a new insignia pool car (diesel) which i use for a trip to Redditch. I was amazed at how much range these things have now.

I know diesel is more evil than harold shipman these days but in that moment of madness it just made sense.

So, called me mate who runs a Honda dealership and i end up buying this handsome fella.

its a 2016 1.6 turbo diesel, 120bhp with nav and some glossy black bits. 18000 miles on the clock.

Only done a few hundred miles in it but it's averaging 65mpg for combined use so i'm happy with that!

Rest of the car fund (weekend thing) is now being pumped into the house to finish it so this is my main machine. I've never owned a car with an engine smaller than a 1.9. I've never owned a diesel. Urghhhhh... whats happening to me?!

My dad has this and that engine really is a beaut, quite punchy to say its a 1.6 and it’ll do mad MPG without even trying! Decent enough place to sit too, i’d definitely choose one over an i3!

another boring 1.6 i-dtec civic owner here.

i look at it as the least boring option.

I'm averaging about 63mpg with a 10 mile commute, cant complain at all, in summer i was averaging 68. Only gripe i have is the turbo stall between first and second gear which makes it hard to make a smooth transition. Mines a 2014 so maybe its sorted for the later cars.

if you remap let us know how it goes...
