Another day, another leak
Discussion
Tasmin being very entertaining now, just as soon as I get one thing fixed it produces another like a hideous conjuring trick. Today it's the fuel pump. It's leaking big time, from the outlet banjo.
I've no experience of fuel injection systems, but I guess the way the petrol comes squirting out there's quite a bit of pressure going on.
Could it be as simple as a seal suddenly going bad i.e. from dry as a bone one day to big puddles the next?
And if yes, anyone know what size washers go in the banjo joint?

Hi Ian
I dont recall having a banjo fitting on my 280i fuel pump....this is what fits the 280i

Not sure I had plastic high pressure pipe to the pump...as far as I recall it was rubber up to the fuel filter in the bulkhead and then plastic from there to metering unit...IIRC the pump is also low pressure.

Hi Mark, thanks for the link. It's all a bit confusing - e.g. the fuel filter on mine is next to the pump and accumulator. Also the banjo joint is the same as the diagram in my haynes granada book.
Oh I see ...thats what confused me...Bit weird.....do you have soft copper washers?...ordinary are not good....alloy ones are also okay....Tempting fate I know, but it turned out to be a 2 minute job after all, copper washers fitted on the fuel pump joint, sealed straightaway. So I got a run out on what was a glorious day here in sunny Lincolnshire.
I've attached a photo of the culprit - an alloy washer which was strangely eroded almost the whole way through.
I also found another job waiting in the wings - pretty rough rear discs - but that's for another day.
Thanks to all for assistance/suggestions.
