VIDEO: 135i Cinematic
Discussion
My friend has put together this very cool video of his lovely 135i.
Have a look and feel free to give us some feedback :-)

I’m not sure what the intention is with this video.
It’s got a lot of ok ingredients, but as a meal it’s not working.
The smooth pan with a litter bin at the end.
The 135i badge with scratches and swirls all over the paint.
The flat lighting throughout.
It can end up feeling like I’m watching a bit of Garth Marenghi with that music track.
If your goal is cinematic then you need to step up the ideas and execution a bit more in my view.
Oor, run with a simpler style and don’t aim too high.
Some of my fave car videos/reviews are more basic with great content.
Ie, best motoring or late 90s early 00s Top Gear (before re launch), as they just convey the cars brilliantly, rather than being overly arty.
Just figure out what you want to do and do it well.
If you really want to do cinematic, go for super quality for like 40s, rather than trying for 2mins and struggling.
With this kind of video quality trumps quantity by many factors.

It's only a bit of fun, not trying to make it into an advert or compete with professionalss as that would be impossible.
If you've got any actual suggestions I can pass it on to him :-)
Other than making sure he's had a professional detail or respray before filming his car again.

Well if your friend had fun and that’s all you wanted then that’s the most important thing.
You don’t need to respray/polish the entire car, just polish the part where it was visible, or shoot it away from the sun.
My feedback for any formal video is storyboard and planning.
Do as much as you can on paper before you do anything with a camera.
