Tell me about the Smart ForFour (mk1)

Hardly the most Pistonheads of cars, though people seem to rate the brabus highly. I need something fairly economical, and though I know the looks are quite marmite, I like the looks, along with the relative rarity compared to say a polo.
I'd be looking at the 1.5 petrol.
I have a couple of questions for those that have them.
Do they rust?
Is the interior as low quality as the fortwo?
(Never been in either, though pictures online lead me to believe the forfour is slightly better put together)
Are the body panels plastic?
And are there any common faults I should look out for?
