Very rarely do I see the Panamera even mentioned in these forums...

I'm looking at a new Turbo or GTS Sport Turismo as my do everything car (child transporter etc.). Anybody own one and got any feedback? What's the new V8 turbo like? Test driving a turbo to see what I think, but value some owners feedback...

but when you do it is usually mentioned in glowing terms especially GTSs & Turbos. Search out the threads & you will not find a negative comment bar a few about appearance of the early ones.

I have an early Turbo S & can't find anything negative about it

...same thoughts as Rob above. I had a previous generation GTS that got traded in for a Turbo S (which I still own) and never regretted buying either car. Panameras are still relatively rare, particularly the quick petrol ones, hence the relative lack of attention on these forums.

I've had a few goes in the new turbo and it's a very impressive car that covers a lots of bases - as a do-it-all car, there are few that can compete. The body control on the new model is a significant improvement and the whole car feels a little lighter and more taut. Whilst the entire package is more modern, I'm still not convinced by the centre console, despite having spent quite a bit of time driving a new Cayenne, which has the same system. It just doesn't feel quite as intuitive as it should and I get a little fed up having to go into menus to change settings, rather than just pressing a button.

The new GTS looks very nice but doesn't seem to be quite as differentiated from the rest of the range as it was before. The old one had an incredible naturally aspirated engine and unique track/suspension etc. The new one just seems to be a downgraded turbo with alcantara seats. As it happens, I specced one up yesterday and thought the turbo would be a better all round bet.

The 4 litre engine is fantastic but I would make sure I spec a sports exhaust; I found the normal car a bit too muted.

I have a Sport Turismo Turbo as a daily because I need the fifth seat every so often which takes a load of other choices out. Its a fantastic car, never feels as shove-in-the-back fast as the E63S AMG, but is only another level in most other regards. Currently planning on ordering a new one for March because its so good and I can't think of what I'd rather have.

Negatives? I think the infotainment is still better on the M5, but its not bad (unlike the car crash of a Mercedes system). Tyre noise isn't the best, but on most surfaces is ok (I replaced the Pirellis it came on with Michelin's as they're noticeably quieter FYI).

But these are minor points - would recommend hugely in every other way. Its sure footed, drives and changes direction well (heavy but doesn't feel like a tank), and as comfortable as you need from a daily. Get an OPC to loan you one for a few days is my advice..

I have a 2017 4S Diesel and it is absolutely brilliant, does everything very well, will not be selling it any time soon.

I have had my turbo for 16 months now and absolutely love it .
I’ve done 25k miles in it and it’s never missed a beat .
Compared to the Range Rover I also have , the build quality is 10 times as good.
You can use it to drive sedately to work and get 32mpg or you can give it s good hard blast and get single digit mpg
The only car I would change it for would be a turbo s turismo , but they won’t take an order for one as they don’t know when they can supply it :-(

This surprised me, just how rare. On checking I found my Turbo S is significantly rarer than my GT3.

Thoughts after a weekend with a 3.0 4 ST.....

- LED headlights with Matrix Beam Adjustment are amazing; watching the high beam pattern form around vehicles in front and to the side on A and B roads is quite astonishing; motorway use again sublime - never hard to see and active anti-glare from signs prevents tiredness on long runs

- ACC with PID 'Innodrive' is a great addition - far more intuitive than I first thought - speed limits via sign recognition even on roadworks and non-mapped / revised limits are picked up within 10 or so metres of full view. The added Lane Keep function seems to tip you into corners telepathically, as you add lock the wheel weights up perfectly and never feels over assisted

- The Burmester sound system has enough adjustment scope to completely ruin any given track but allows you to personalise the sound better than any other I have heard

- It's a BIG car; and with a useful sized load area and 5 seats; the ST is far more practical than the 4 seat option. Surround view option is a big advantage over standard park assist.
The A pillar and 1/4 light frames can hamper vision occasionally.

- Non air, PASM equipped chassis has a fine ride - no complaints over a 500mile weekend from front or rear passengers; even with the 21's; the ride is pure Porsche, solid, sure footed but still lively.

- Partial comfort access - keyless start but no external controls - is a faff; if you've pocketed the key to get in and drive, having to find it again to lock the car on the way out takes some geeting used to (worse problems to have I know....)

- 4 zone AC and rear seat entertainment - everyone's happy!!

- Variable door stops great for tight parking spots; soft close though - mind those pinkies!!

- 3.0 mono turbo v6; never lacks pace but the Sports Exhaust is needed for a bit of added drama

- Rear end a more dramatic shape but does seem to attract dirt far quicker than the non-ST model

- Tank range - better than expected (over 500 miles) and with mixed use averaged nearly 30mpg

I love my Turbo.

Never missed a beat, just quietly gets on with being superb.
