I work as a contractor in a limited company. I've accepted a new contract and the agency have requested a load of pay information, including payroll references, tax references etc etc.

The agency have said this is a requirement which has been in place since 2015, but I've never had to give information about my personal income to anyone other than my accountant and HMRC before.

This is the relevant FAQ I've been pointed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/employm...

What's it all about? Do I really need to supply this level of detail? (I am asking my accountant as well)

The agency have to report your details to HMRC along with the sums billed by your Ltd co for your services. The only additional personal detail I’ve been asked to provide since this came into effect is my NI number.

Yes, I've always provided my NI number, but none of the three agencies I've worked with since 2015 have requested information to this level of detail.

I would've thought that my company number and NI number would be sufficient.
