The gen 2 GT3RS is a very different car to the gen 1, therefore in my mind it will never be bundled into the gen 1 pool and will remain in its own niche sector (991.2 GT3RS).

I believe that it was reported that there were only something like 120 or so examples registered, does this not make it a very, very, very rare car?

No, of course it's not very very very rare. It's rarer than some things but not as rare as others.

Some people seem to think there are more on the way too.

No , they will make more and rare cars are like the 993 RS Clubsport RHD , where there only 7 , I think . Modern Porsches especially GT and RS are not rare anymore ...... thousands are made .
Rare may be a more vanilla car say 4GTS...

Disregarding a second batch then is not just over a 100 of these very rare? we know there was only something like 28 997 4.0RS cars but that one is a bit of a different story and is a true Unicorn!

100 ish in UK terms seems fairly low to me!

100 in the second batch, then , yes, it’s a small run of units.

don't they make 5,000 odd of every model world wide and that's then split between the every one.

they don't make more cars as the production line is full, they make 5000 models of GT cars and some get more than others.

USA are getting 991.2 RS daily atm.

997.2 Carrera 4 GTS Manual is a rare Porsche with just 17 UK cars ever sold!

Pity the 4 wd GTS didn't appeal like the 2 wd GTS.

Great cars but their £ premiums to this day still baffle me.

Juno..... on the 2 GT3 RS it is not a forgone conclusion there will be more UK cars.

Anyway I thought you were keeping your wonderful gen 2 GT3??

Yes that's what I am saying, right now with no news of any more cars is not just 100-120 quite a low number for a GT car in the UK

The deciding factor on whether I keep the fabulous 4.0 GT3 will be decided on the basis of a second batch of RS arriving, the GT3 is great but i will probably take the RS given the chance

Hope this helps

I'm in exactly the same boat as you Juno, however as the clock keeps ticking i'm losing interest in the new RS as i'm gelling more with my GT3 every week that goes by. I'm fitting my new Titanium exhaust this weekend and with this in mind if the new RS has the GPF fitted i might even turn it down..Famous last words.!

A UK 996 GT2 gen 2 is a very rare car. Just 16 I believe. A friend sold one just before prices leapt. :-(

Word of advise. take it of leave it.

As i owner of a .2GT3-RS the only reason i would swap out of a .2GT3 is if you will use the RS as a track weapon, solely. IF you have not driven a .2 GT3RS the road ride is much harsher than the 1.GT3RS (I owed and tracked) which spoils the road use and hell! is the road noise much louder with it having near to nothing of sound deadening. For me the .2GT3RS is a complete different animal compared to the 1.RS, If it were my money and i have a GT3 Sat in the garage........ Id keep that..

With the .2GT3 Prices where they/going i am half tempted to get into a GT3, I should of got one when offered, for me, the GT3 for road use and RS for track use if the perfect 2 car garage.

I get where you are coming from as you can’t ask for a much better road car set up with race car feel and visceral appeal!

A little more noise doesn’t hurt and lifts the enjoyment just a little higher, just the back box makes acBIG difference!

I don’t mind cars being bonkers stiff and noisy even though I won’t be using it on track! Sounds even better now thumbup appreciate the info though!
