Our Skoda 1.9tdi is due for timing belt + tensioner kit replacement, not
sure as to wether the water pump needs routine replacement or not? Advise sought and appreciated. Also what is a fair garage price for work + parts? Thanks.

Yes do it otherwise you are leaving a worn/used link in place frown VAG did have problems with the composite/plastic impeller leaving the drive-shaft on the WP in the past the replacement part is a later revision , I buy the full kits from TPS/VAG/main dealer themselves rather than pattern part sourcing scratchchin as discounts are good and its all genuine and i'll fit dealer supplied parts all day long wink good excuse to renew coolant too

Thanks, although it’s only a very old daily hack I guess maintenance is still essential, more so.
Bite the bullet time.

Just had ours done on golf mk4 2002, Also got them to change Altenator as it started slipping and threw up a fault code as it is easier to get it done all at once.

Labour i think was 3-4 hours, belt and labour came in at around £350, and yes that was waterpump as well.
