Hi, was caught by a mobile speed camera, bang to rights 91 in a 70 on the A303

I am not contesting, however, am confused..some say its a ban ..the NIP says 91 in a 70 send us 100 and your license...to The Conditional Offer Unit?

Are they just tricking me into sending in my licence? and they are going to ban me for 28 days and bill me a grand...or is it 100 and 3pts????

Fixed penalty.

To be honest, a quick Google would have saved you worrying.

It's too high for a speed awareness course but also not enough for a ban ,I believe.

Hooligan. That's at least 15 kittens worth of speeding.

I got 3 points for 96 on a motorway a few years ago. That was a mobile van on a bridge

I did a speed awareness course three months ago..I think I need to get a slower car...my car is not fast its a bog standard 2.0 tdi Passat DSG estate full of tools ..including the driver..it does get from 80-100 very easily ..which is proving problematic!

I did google and was non the wiser as 91-100 seemed to be saying a grand and 6 points.

Thanks for replies much appreciated.

Have had a licence for 22 years and had my first NIP this week; 67 in a 50.

I know the road; local dual carriageway, I know there is a mobile camera on there occasionally, I saw the camera however it was on the other side facing the oncoming traffic for that side (where it always is) and I wasn't aware that it also covered the other side and the other direction (the way that I was going) too; if I'd known I would have slowed.

The NIP came through to work (company demo) pretty quickly; I was pinged on the 13th and it arrived at work on the 17th.

In the letter there is the mention of a "Driver awareness course" subject to their discretion, however I don't know if I can be arsed if it is offered; 3 points isn't the end of the world, it'll cost the same and it will mean a day off work and travelling a fair distance.

Too fast for a course but within the threshold for a £100 fixed penalty with 3 points.

If you comply with the conditions of the fixed penalty offer then this won’t go anywhere near a court and you can forget about any nonsense found on the internet about Band B fines, etc. Don’t forget to submit your licence and always use Signed For post.

64/50 is usually the upper limit for a course. At 67/50 you probably don’t have a choice - you’re in fixed penalty territory.

That’s only if you contest it and go to court.

I have a paper licence (in bits held together by sellotape), if I submit that for points, what will I get back?

Good answer.
A request for you to apply for a photocard licence is more likely.

Set the speed warning to ding at 80.

Oops! I read the post as “will I get it back” and assumed he had both paper and card smile

Yes, assume a request for a photo card will be likely.

Similar situation here last year.

I got flashed in a demo by a camera that I regularly bait ( at least I know it goes off at 57 now ). Points had no bearing as I'd had a company car for decades so I took them. Then within 6 months I changed jobs and had to buy my own car and insurance - d'oh! Still the right thing to do though, I'll take an SAC for my second offence if it's available.

I had to send off my paper licence too. It came back just the same without anything else written in the endorsements box though I'm sure that the points will be recorded somewhere.

Whereabouts on the A303 did you get caught?

If it's of any help, I got done for 75 in a 50 and just got 3 points and a fine. No offer of Speed Awareness course - too high above the limit.

Can't understand this logic, regardless of the cost & inconvenience why would you not want to retain a clean licence and much more importantly have another 'chance' of not totting up for a ban?

Unless you can absolutely guarantee to not get caught again? confused
