clutch problems
Discussion
hi all
my car is a :
golf mk5 2005 , 1.6 manual petrol
today whilst driving and changing gear , every time i pressed the clutch in there was a loud squeaking noise from the engine bay , kind of like something was rubbing against metal . also , every time i pressed the clutch in there was a slowing down whirling noise , kind of like when you turn a hoover off and the hoover comes to a stop , that was only happening when i pressed on the clutch and would last for 2-3 seconds .
after about 20 minutes of driving the squeaking noise was not as loud but still there slightly.
the clutch wasn't slipping, the pedal and clutch feel the same as usual . revs and speed are as expected when using the clutch .
just wondering if i will be need a new clutch or is it something else ?
any help or advice is much appreciated
thanks

I had this on the missus golf mk4 it is the clutch on its way out, before long your clutch pedal will go down to the floor and you will have hydralic fluid all over the engine bay (This is what happened to ours)
You are looking at Circa £800.00 for replacement clutch and Concentric hydraulic slave cylinder (the clutch runs off hydraulic fluids there is no bearing) (This is the bit squeaking) there are fixes online to this that are cheaper.
Please do not leave it to long otherwise you will end up with a bill like mine.
Oh and apparently it would have been more if it was a dual clutch!
