So got myself 64 plate M235i couple of months ago in July and its now telling me "oil service" and "vehicle check" is due. I bought it as AUC from a dealer so I'm querying with them if its reasonable to expect car that was bought as AUC needing a service mere 4 months after purchase but thats another discussion.

I phoned up my local dealer and they say that based on a key reading when I last visited them in August (went in for brake pads locally straight after purchase as selling dealer didn't have time to fix them before I picked up the car - they covered the cost though) car now needs a major service with
oil and filter, fuel filter, spark plugs and air filter.... all that for a grand sum of just under £700!!!

service history in car says that its had oil and filter done in Nov 2016 and vehicle check and brake fluid in Nov 2017.

I'm struggling to find what should be a service schedule and what car actually needs as it feels like dealer is trying to pull a fast one on me....
Am I correct in being suspicious? Does it only really just need new oil (and filter? ) ? would car tell me if other items dealer claims to be due are really due?

Oil is going to be every 2 years or a set mileage, which is depending on driving style. So if it's done Nov 2016 definitely by now.
Brake fluid these days seems every 3 years and mileage doesn't appear to affect that. so 2017 was correct on a 2014 car.
Vehicle checks always seem to be a set mileage I've not seen much less than 30k and 3 or maybe now 4 years. Can't see if that was done last year, how it's due now!!

AUC always had standards that they have to service if within a certain amount of of miles before selling. Check the AUC report on yours, to make sure that was adhered to.

If you don't want to gamble with the oil filter disintegrating in the housing and requiring a partial strip-down and clean-out of the oil system, I'd do annual oil and microfilter changes going forward.

Fuel filter isn’t a service item on these, brake fluid is still 2 years, apart from brand new-1st change is three years possibly, then 2.
