Saturday Afternoon Novice Trackday Brands Hatch

I spotted this on the Brands Hatch/Motor sport vision website.
This looks to be a really good opportunity to get out onto Brands at a convenient time and at what looks to be extremely good value. It also looks like a good opportunity to let the missus loose too.
I've never driven at a track day and have always wanted to drive on the Brands circuit so this looks too good to miss -is this good value and is any one else going?
Its on 28/5/2005 for the whole afternoon.

Tell you what though - at £100 open pit lane its quite a bargain. More experienced drivers are certainly going to start booking on.
The only problem is that at £100 - you have absolutely no idea who will be booking on - anyone and everyone. Not all are going to care about their P&J as much as you do...
Please report back on how well "policed" the day is - whether knobbers get shown the door or not. Its OK for fast drivers to overtake - its not OK to monster the car in front, spin, close the session due to a trip to the gravel trap etc etc

If it's anything like the one's that Donington Park run, then watch yourself. It'll be full of Max Power cars, driven by complete gobshites who will NOT be looking in their mirrors.
Besides, 'proper' trackdays are not much more expensive than this, you will get a better standard of drivers, and most of them will chuck in an introductory session with an ARDS instructor.

I've booked in or the first trip out in the 964, including a 20 min instruction session.
During the booking call they stated there was around 40 spaces for the day.
So hopefully it shouldn't be too crowded. Let's get it fully booked with PH'ers now before the Max Brigade get the idea.

Another P`header booked in here. Although I have a few 
days behind me I want to use it more as a test session to set up the new shocks which I hope to have on by then. Mrs Jenks is booked in as second driver although she doesn`t know it yet. She is a true novice and has never even driven my car 
A session of tuition is also waiting for her, just hope it doesn`t end in

If it's as well run as the MSV days at Cadwell then it'll be good.

Whaaaaat! Yer MX5 should be great entertainment on track - but the Wedge would give you the grunt to exploit the experience a good bit more.
Brands tips:
Paddock Hill bend is an awesome corner - why? - because its faaaaast. Do not be slowing to third unless you are in something awesomely fast.
Druids - errr - this is a slower corner than you expect. Do not be putting it in the gravel.
Clearways - I guarantee you that you will not do this corner justice - its a real bugger to do right. Partly because the concrete wall on the exit focuses the mind on not going in too quickly. The corner is long though, which means if you do go in too slow you can decide to goon through it which is a total laugh - if not very quick!
Take your first lapping sessions slooowly to make sure you approach "the limit" a bit at a time. With enough sessions you'll get the tyres protesting at each corner...
Thanks Don, I've spent most of my life watching people on this circuit, I could even hear the GrandPrix from my back garden when I was a nipper.
But I know it's a tough one, I've booked an instruction session, so hopefully I will make it round, if I like it in the MX5 then I know I'll love it in the Wedge next time.
