Another nostalgic piece of film i found to reminisce over. Ford's and Minis being very commonplace here, as well as the odd Citroen 2CV.
Can anyone confirm if that's a Reliant Scimitar (an SE5a model from the looks of it) that's parked up in the distance on that car park at the 5.25 mark?, the one on the far left next to the orange Mini.

Looks more like a Chevette hatch to me, side windows don't look long enough for a Scimitar. But what's the car along the back wall, behind the 2-door Cortina? Fastback with chrome around the rear windows.
ETA - interesting film, thanks for the link. Just after the car park scene there's one of the special Crosville Bristol REs with the low roof, for getting under a bridge at Dunham Massey IIRC.

I think you maybe right about it being a Chevette rather than a Scimitar, mainly for me a Scimitar would be considerably longer and taller than that dinky sized Mini next to it.
Regarding the black coloured fastback looking car in the background near the doors, it doesn't really look much like a Stag (unless it's wearing a detachable hardtop, well maybe it does) to me, but the wheels may hint at one. If that's an E-Type FHC, then the front does resemble one slightly, but the rear doesn't, and those wheels don't look like regular wheels on an E-Type, or maybe that's just a wall I'm seeing. Looks somewhat Corvette-ish to me, but I somewhat doubt it.

I thought it was a Triumph Stag because I thought I could see a fuel filler cap on the rear wing. I've looked again and I'm not so sure because the rear wheel arch looks wrong. I'm sure it's not an e-type but now wonder if it could be a Porsche 911 (912); assuming the fuel filler cap is a trick of the light?

Having watched the (depressing 1970s) footage, I too thought it might be a 911. But isn't it too big? Also, a 911 back then would be surely be exceedingly rare. I think I'll stick with E-Type, one of the ugly ones with four seats.Yertis said:

If you watch the video, there's a white Mini that drives past and that looks bigger than the car in question. And I think the red car parked behind (to the left in the picture) might be a MK 3 Cortina (or similar sized saloon) which looks a lot bigger too. I accept that a 911 would have been quite rare but they did exist and so it's quite possible there was one in that car park.

it would be extremely unlikely that its anything exotic in liverpool in 1977 - I was there and always looking at cars. never saw much interesting stuff - apart form the karmann ghia in the first few seconds, generally alfa suds and citroen CX's would be considered exotic
